How To Unarchive an Email?

Let’s say Bob sends emails 1-4 to Jane through his personal or business email account. After email 1, he realizes he wants Jane to receive emails 1-3, so he decides to archive email one instead of deleting it.

An hour later, Bob sends emails 2 and 3, thinking Jane won’t see them unless she needs them because emails 1-3 are already archived (deleted). Then something happens, maybe Bob gets busy with work or school, or perhaps Jane moves on without hearing from him again; whatever the reasons may be, email four was never sent from Bob to Jane.

If email 3 is essential, email four will likely be archived as well, but email two could still be there for you to use or view if needed. In order to find it, though, you’ll need to know where Gmail hides archived emails and how to access them.

First of all, email doesn’t get deleted when it’s archived. Instead, it moves out of the Inbox and into a different folder called ‘All Mail.’ Check both the Primary and Social tabs in Gmail.

Once inside All Mail, click on ‘More’ at the top left-hand corner of your Gmail window. A drop-down menu should appear; now click on ‘Search mail.’ This option is now available because emails 1-3 were archived. If email three weren’t archived, email four would have been your only option.

In the ‘Search mail’ box, type in any word from email two or email 1-3 and hit search. It should automatically bring up email two or whatever email you’re searching for.

This may seem like a lot of work, but it’s much better than losing an email forever to archiving by accident!

Where do archived emails go in Gmail?

In the Google email domain, archived emails are moved to your Gmail archive. They take up less space in your Gmail account, but when you search for them, they’re hard to find because they’re grouped with all the other messages in your archive. See Moving messages into or out of a library to work with archived messages in the Gmail Web interface.

How to unarchive Gmail messages?

There is no way to “unarchive email messages” in Gmail, but you can search and recover the archived email messages. Here’s how:

  1. Go to your All Mail label (in Gmail, click on the down arrow next to Inbox and select All Mail from the menu that appears).
  2. Click on More at the upper right-hand corner of your Gmail window and then click Search mail.
  3. Enter any word contained in any one of the email messages you wish to unarchive and hit “enter.” This should bring up all archived email messages containing the expression (s) entered in this search.

You can then open or recover these email messages as desired.

Where do archived emails go in Outlook?

In Outlook, archived emails will be grouped in the same folder as your old Inbox. To access these archived emails, you can either click on the “All Mail” button found on the left of your screen or find your archived emails under the “Unread Mail” folder.

If you do not see these emails, try clicking on the “All Mail” or “Unread Mail” buttons, respectively.
